Dr. Herbert Snell has more than 30 years of experience in the recycling of plastic waste (PET, HDPE, PP, PS and LDPE). Various positions along the value chain give him a comprehensive view of all aspects of plastics recycling.
Until June 2023, he served as Managing Director/CEO of Multiport GmbH and MultiPet GmbH (of which he was co-owner until the end of 2017). He was involved in the construction of plastics recycling plants, the optimization of existing recycling facilities, the analysis of waste, the design for recycling for plastic packaging, the creation of concepts for the collection, sorting and processing of plastic waste as well as market analyses for recyclates.
Dr.-Ing. Herbert Snell has been Vice President of the bvse, Bundesverband Sekundärrohstoffe und Entsorgung e.V. since 1996. He is also a member of the board of directors of Plastics Recyclers Europe (PRE).
This dual role has enabled him to bridge the gap between practitioners and policymakers, integrating practical experience into political decision-making processes.
As chair of the HDPE technical committee at RecyClass, he is actively involved in shaping the test guidelines for the recyclability requirements of HDPE packaging.
